About Us
About DAAD
DAAD stands for "Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst"
- "German Academic Exchange Service". The DAAD,
which receives public funding, manages the country's government-sponsored
programmes in support of higher education cooperation and
exchange with all other parts of the world. Its programmes
are open to all countries and disciplines, to foreigners
as well as to Germans.
The DAAD carries out the planning and administration of
scholarship schemes, fellowship programs, the assignment
of German teaching staff to higher education institutions
abroad and institutional projects for several Federal Ministries.
It also provides the academic community in Germany and abroad
with a wide range of advisory and information services with
regard to the institutions' participation in international
cooperative ventures. In addition, the DAAD supports higher
education institutions in their international activities
by providing a number of services, such as information programmes,
publications, consultancy and advice, guidance and counselling.
About the
DAAD Information Centre Accra
The "DAAD Information Centre Accra" was established in October
2000. Since its establishment Information Centre staff have
been offering face-to-face advice and information on all matters
related to studying and doing research in Germany to more
than 5000 Ghanaians and other West-Africans (see opening hours
of the centre below). The services of the Information Centre
are provided by the DAAD, so there is no fee to be paid by
visitors. Due to the close co-operation with the Goethe-Institut
Accra, you can also find all DAAD information booklets in
the library of the Goethe-Institut.
