There are various programmes available for students from different areas:

Study Visits to Germany

The Programme helps students under the guidance of a lecturer to get in touch with their specific academic field and gain knowledge during a minimum of seven to a maximum of twelve days of stay in Germany.

  • Application deadline [online through the portal]: 1st of November for visits beginning 1st of March, 1st of February for visits beginning 1st of June, and 1st of May for visits beginning 1st of September. The time span between application deadline and commencement of visit is approximately 4 months

Subject-related Partnerships with Institutions of Higher Education

The programme provides an opportunity for German institutions of higher education to collaborate with one or more higher education institutions in developing countries. The programme is designed to enable structural development at the foreign higher education institutions through curriculum or module development as well as through initiating international study programmes and the mutual recognition of academic degrees. The establishment of networks between German higher education institutions and their partner institutions, as well as the South-South-networking of foreign higher education institutions with each other will enhance and broaden the profile of the foreign as well as the German institutions of higher education. DAAD Programme PAGEL in the area of Medicine

The programme offers German institutions of higher education many different opportunities for international cooperation related to the health sector in developing countries. It targets the structural enhancement of the university education and the further training at universities for sustainable strengthening of the health sector. It professionally prepares international students at German universities from developing countries for an appropriate assignment in their home country and fosters the lifelong learning of the alumni within subject related networks. For more information follow this link.

IASTE - Practical Traineeships for Students of Natural and Technical Sciences, Agriculture and Forestry

The traineeships in various firms, institutions of higher education and research institutes in Germany last two to three months. Students interested in a training placement in Germany should contact the National IAESTE Secretary in Ghana:

Scholarships for Artists

The study scholarships for a period up to one academic year aim to provide foreign applicants from the field of Fine Arts, Design, Film, Music and Architecture as well as Drama, Direction, Dance and Choreography with an opportunity to complete a course of extension studies. Scholarships are also available in order to pursue a two-year degree programme with final degree in Germany.

Scholarships for University Students reading German Studies

Scholarships for Students reading German Studies can be offered as Research Grants for Doctoral Candidates and Young Academics and Scientists (more than six months or up to six months); Study Scholarships; Research Stays for university academics and scientists / Re-invitation Programme for Former Scholarship Holders; University Summer Course.

Application deadline: 15th of October in the year prior to the commencement of the scholarship; for University Summer Courses it is 15th of December in the year prior to the commencement of the scholarship [at the DAAD Information Center].

Scholarships for Philologists of the German Language

Research scholarships can be awarded to doctoral candidates and scientists in the German language as well as scholarships for a semester abroad in Germany and for research stays and re-invitations.

Erasmus Mundus Scholarships

Erasmus Mundus is a European Union cooperation and mobility programme in the field of higher education. It aims to promote the European Union worldwide as a centre of excellence for learning and education. The programme supports top standard Master's degree courses. A total of about 11,000 Erasmus Mundus scholarships are awarded.

Erasmus Mundus is intended for nationals of non-EU countries doing a European Master's course, who will spend up to 3 months studying at a partner university in a third country. The funding is provided for the whole term of the Master's course. Participants from non-EU countries spend their whole study visit at one of the selected Erasmus Mundus courses.
