The Falling Walls Lab is an international forum for the next generation of outstanding innovators and creative thinkers. Its aim is to promote exceptional ideas and to connect promising scientists and entrepreneurs from all fields on a global level.  The local event ‘Falling Walls Lab Accra’ seeks to identify the best idea/project/innovation to represent Ghana on the world stage in Berlin.  The winner of this event will receive a travel grant to attend the Finale in Berlin.

Freshmen Session (Winter Semester 2018/19)

Date: 26th July 2018

Time: 4pm - 5.15pm

Venue: Goethe Institut (located next to NAFTI, East Cantonments, Accra)

This event is for students who have recently received their admission notices to study at various institutions in Germany in the coming winter semester 2018/19 academic year.  It is an orientation programme that offers participants advice on your first bureaucratic steps in Germany, immigration and registration procedures, cultural life, student accommodation options, travel and cultural life among others. Participants may have the opportunity of meeting other students going to your same university town or same institution.

Participation: Free of Charge.  No prior registration required!

PhD Proposal Writing Workshop

Dates: 23rd and 24th August 2018

Time: 8am to 4pm daily

Venue: Conference Room, Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research, University of Ghana, Legon

Participation:  Free of Charge (Prior registration is however mandatory.  Participation is also strictly for graduates with a Masters degree or students currently enrolled in a Master’s degree programme).

The PhD proposal writing workshop is a platform especially made for prospective PhD candidates to fine-tune their research proposals for their research stays in Germany. Participants at the workshop will be coached by seasoned researchers and other DAAD and Germany alumni who have successfully completed their research stays in Germany.

Nano Art and Research in Germany Photo Exhibition

Dates: 3rd to 7th September 2018

Time: 9am to 4pm daily

Venue: Department of Biochemistry, Cell and Molecular Biology, University of Ghana

Exhibition is open to the public and attendance is free of charge!

Nano Art is a new discipline where art meets science and technology.  This exhibition will showcase such interesting art pieces and as well, offer you an overview into the German Research Landscape.

There will be a lot of information and material available to inform prospective researchers, young academics and students on research prospects in Germany.

Monthly Introductory Sessions: Counselling Format at the DAAD Information Center

(Consultation through our staff)

The DAAD Information Center holds a monthly Introductory Session on Study and Research Opportunities in Germany. Participation in this session is free of charge but mandatory prior to visiting the Information Center for individual consultation. Anyone planning to study or do research in Germany is welcome to attend the Introductory Session.

During the Introductory Session informational material will be handed out and information will be given on
- international Degree Programmes in Germany (Bachelors, Masters, PhD),
- general entry requirements and application procedures to German universities
- DAAD scholarship programmes
- subject related information (eg. on studying medicine in Germany)
- visa requirements, among others.

The Introductory Session will be held on the 1st Thursday of every month between 4pm and 6.30pm at the Goethe-Institut (inner courtyard), which is located next to NAFTI. If the first Thursday of the month falls on a public holiday, the Introductory Session will take place the following Thursday.

Dates for the Introductory Sessions in 2018: 

1st February/ 1st March/ 5th April/ 3rd May/ 7th June/ 5th July/ 2nd August/ 6th September/ 4th October/ 1st November/ 6th December

After having participated in the Introductory Session, you are also most welcome to see us for individual consultation during our office hours at the Information Center Accra.
