The DAAD awards grants on various levels, for long term and short terms programs. Once the grant period comes to an end, the DAAD aims at establishing a long lasting relationship with their former scholarship holders. This is part of the DAAD’s ongoing effort to establish a strong DAAD alumni association. The major goals of these efforts are:
• to further the contacts of the DAAD alumni among each other
• to continue the relationship between the DAAD and its alumni
• to strengthen the academic exchange between Germany and its exchange partner universities and countries, in an attempt to expand the international perspective as well as the international student base at German universities
• to provide future DAAD scholarship holders with the experience and knowledge of DAAD alumni
• to inform DAAD alumni on developments and trends in the higher education market in Germany and Europe
