Information Centre Hong Kong & Macau

The DAAD Information Centre Hong Kong & Macau is the DAAD representation in Hong Kong and Macau. It was established in March 2001, and has found its home in the David C. Lam Institute for East-West Studies at the Hong Kong Baptist University. The current director of the DAAD IC is Dr. Siegbert Klee, whose term of office started at 1 September 2012.

Our aim is to provide information on Germany as an excellent study and research destination, to offer consultation and support to students and researchers to study and research in Germany, and to promote cooperation between Hong Kong & Macau higher education institutions with their German counterparts.

Currently, there are two DAAD representatives in Hong Kong.

Dr. Klee studied Germanic and Romance Languages and Literatures in Germany, France and the United States. He earned a PhD in German Literature from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, USA. From 1990 to 1994 he taught in the Department of Germanic and Slavic Languages, and at the Joseph H. Lauder Institute of Management and International Studies at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Klee was Director of the International Office and Lecturer at Lippe University of Applied Sciences in Lemgo, Germany, and worked from 2005 to 2010 for the DAAD in the Ukraine (Odessa and Kiev) where he headed the DAAD Information Centre Kiev and taught German Language and Culture at National Shevchenko University Kiev (2007-10). Since September 2012, he holds the position as Director of the DAAD Information Centre Hong Kong & Macau and Visiting Scholar in the Department of Government and International Studies at HKBU. His research interests include International University Relations, Academic Exchange, Intercultural Communication, Comparative European Cultural Studies and German as a Foreign Language.


Staff

Mr. Orange Cheung studied European Studies (German Stream) at the Hong Kong Baptist University. He earned his 1-year exchange experience studying "Cultural Studies" at Leuphana Universität Lüneburg and working in a German publishing house "Berlin Story Verlag" as intern. He joined DAAD in October 2016 and is currently working as Education Officer.
