Apply now for DAAD Research Grant (PhD & Post Doc)

The DAAD Research Grant is awarded to highly qualified doctoral degree students, post-docs, and individuals wishing to earn a doctoral degree in Germany.

This grant is open to applicants in all fields. Research Grants are awarded for periods of one to ten months with the possibility of a one-year extension. Applicants wishing to complete a doctoral degree programme in Germany may receive up to three one-year extensions.

The monthly stipend is approximately €1,000. In addition, DAAD will pay for health insurance and provide a flat rate subsidy for travel costs.

The deadline for submission is 15 August 2010.

The winners will be announced at the “German Day @ NUS” fair at the National University of Singapore (Forum) on 8 September 2010.

You are invited to submit one (1) photograph that best captures ‘your Germany’. The best photographs will be exhibited at the “German Day @ NUS” fair at the National University of Singapore (Forum) on 8 September 2010. Great prizes will be awarded to the 20 best entries. Prizes include (1) language course at Goethe Institute Singapore, (1) DAAD university summer course (students only), (3) invitations to Germany’s National Day reception, German travel guides, T-shirts …

All images should be in JPG format and of at least 5.0 megapixels. All entries must be clearly marked as follows: "FirstName_FamilyName_Year_Place.jpg"

‘Discover German(y)’ project visits Indian International School

Discover German(y)”, an interactive information session for JC students on all things German, visited the Indian International School on 28 April. Participants learned interesting facts about Germany, key words and phrases in German, got to know about study opportunities at Germany’s over 350 institutions of higher education and even received great freebies! Meet our DAAD Summer course scholarship holder 2010 - Arnold Leong

Arnold Leong, a recent graduate in Medical Technology from the National University of Singapore, has been awarded a DAAD scholarship to attend a 4-week German language course in Düsseldorf this summer. This will be his third trip to Germany following an NUS exchange programme at the Technical University Darmstadt and a 6-months research stint at the University hospital / Max Beckmann Centrum in Dresden. Says Arnold of his decision to learn German “ Germany has many famous scientists and Science and Technology are very advanced.” On top of his itinerary are a trip to Essen and, of course, a taster of Düsseldorf’s famous Altbier (dark beer). Congratulations Arnold!
