About us
The DAAD Information Centre created in 2009 serves Cameroon entirely. Its role is to represent the DAAD, which is an association of German institutes of higher education, in Cameroon. The Centre is member of the DAAD family in sub-saharan Africa with the regional office in Nairobi and the information centres in Accra and Johannesburg.
The Information Centre mainly informs students, lecturers and Cameroonian researchers on German universities and scientific institutions. We also make DAAD scholarship programmes available in Cameroon. We publish new programmes, collect applications and guide candidates.
We assist German students, academics and academic or research intituions at establishing contacts with Cameroon in the domains of internships, research or study visits and partnerships.
Since May 2010, the Centre is lodged in the new academic building of the University of Yaoundé I. Nevertheless our outbuilding office at the Goethe Institute is still available. Our new site was inaugurated in October 2010.
Our team:
The Director of the Centre, Mrs Katja Buchecker also teaches as a DAAD lector in the Department of German Studies of the Faculty of Arts, Letters and Social Sciences – University of Yaoundé I. Since 2008, she has been assuming duty as DAAD lector in Cameroon and the DAAD gave her the responsibility to create the Yaoundé Information Centre. She studied in Istanbul, Damascus and graduated at the University of Hamburg.
Mr Brice Martial Chuepo is the Director’s assistant. He takes care of issues related to programmes and counselling. His training in German Studies coupled with his knowledge of German and Cameroonian university environments, since he has studied in both countries, give him enough authority to advise candidates for DAAD scholarship programmes.
The Information Centre answers all questions related to studies and research in Germany . Information is provided through audiences at the centre or by mail and telephone.
We will be very delighted to welcome you.
